Topializ una composición por instrucciones orales
basadas en el Toltecayotl (Filosofia Tolteca) que se
encuentra guiada por tres dispositivos materiales
activados a través de gestos performativos.
Esta composición, por su naturaleza, puede ser
ejecutada 3 veces, sólamente. Una vez hechas dichas
iteraciones, la obra se convertirá en su propio archivo
mostrando los diferentes procesos de cada iteración,
así como la elasticidad de las instrucciones orales
entre el compositor y las 3 parejas.
El compositor transmite las instrucciones orales a la
primer pareja, posteriormente, la primer pareja
transmite las instrucciones a la segunda pareja. El
mismo proceso sucederá entre la segunda y la tercer
pareja. Por respeto al proceso, las instrucciones
pretenden no tocar el papel y permanecer en la
memoria de quienes realizan las iteraciones.
Dicho lo anterior, los dispositivos que acompañan a
esta composición son los siguientes:
— Yuhcatiliztli (Lo que hace ser a cada cosa de una
manera determinada)
Un tapete de palma que sirve como un mapa del
espacio donde se coloca. Funciona como un
dispositivo de mediación entre las instrucciones orales
y la iteración de la obra.
— Topializtli (Lo que es necesario preservar/salvar)
26 hojas de papel con palabras en náhuatl y sus
traducciones en español con 4 tipos de tiras de colores
dentro de una caja de palma hecha a mano. Cada pareja
puede usar 8 palabras.
— Tlapializtli (La acción de salvar o preservar)
3 sobres con distintos cortes. Cada corte en el sobre
se encuentra relacionado a las instrucciones orales y
tiene como objetivo insertar las hojas de papel con
palabras en náhuatl como una manera de crear una
estructura musical a la composición.
Esta composición de ninguna manera pretende
encontrar un sonido novedoso durante este proceso,
sino enfocarse en la creación de una composición que
sea capaz de atrapar, como en una telaraña, los
diferentes procesos de acercamiento que puede haber
de una partitura que tiene la vulnerabilidad de ser
modificada de acuerdo a la memoria de las personas
que la realizan.
La primer iteración de este trabajo fue hecha por
Cristián Alvear y Santiago Astaburuaga en Chile y
publicado en Marginal Frequency, Estados Unidos
La segunda iteración de Topializ fue hecha por Catriel
Nievas y Sergio Merce en CABA, Argentina, y está
contenida en esta cinta publicada por Tumba 7 y
Chintete, Oaxaca.
La tercera iteración de Topializ fue realizada por Andrea
Neumann y Lucio Capece en Berlín y está en proceso
de ser publicada.
Un estudio exhaustivo sobre Topializ fue hecho por
Santiago Astaburuaga en su proyecto de Doctorado
en Composición por la Universidad Nacional Autónoma

ENGLISH VERSION
Topializ a composition by oral instructions
based on the Toltecayotl (Toltec Philosophy) that is
guided by three material devices activated through
performative gestures.
This composition, by its nature, can be executed 3
times, only. Once these iterations are done, the work
will become its own archive showing the different
processes of each iteration, as well as the elasticity
of the oral instructions between the composer and
the 3 couples.
The composer transmits the oral instructions to the
first couple, then the first couple transmits the
instructions to the second couple. The same process
will happen between the second and third couple.
Out of respect for the process, the instructions are
intended not to touch the paper and remain in the
memory of those who perform the iterations.
That being said, the devices that accompany this
composition are the following:
— Yuhcatiliztli (The way every object is the way it is)
A palm mat that serves as a map of the space where
it is placed. It works as a mediation device between
the oral instructions and the iteration of the work.
— Topializtli (What is necessary to save/preserve)
26 sheets of paper with Nahuatl words and their
Spanish translations with 4 types of colored strips
inside a handmade palm box. Each pair can use 8
words.
— Tlapializtli (The action of saving/preserving)
3 envelopes with different cuts. Each cut in the
envelope is related to the oral instructions and aims
to insert the sheets of paper with words in Nahuatl as
a way of creating a musical structure to the
composition.
This composition in no way intends to find a new
sound during this process, but to focus on the
creation of a composition that is capable of trapping,
like in a spider web, the different approach processes
that a score that has the vulnerability of being
modified according to the memory of the people who
perform it.
The first iteration of this work was done by Cristián
Alvear and Santiago Astaburuaga in Chile and
